Vacation
- New Smyrna Beach, FL (near
Daytona)
August 5th-12th, 2000 |
Melissa,
waving to the camera, poolside at the Island Beach Resort in New Smyrna
Beach, Florida. We were there for a week (August5th-12th), staying at
Mom's time-share. The place was ok, but we loved the area and will
definitely be going back. |
Here
I am poolside, drinking some crazy liquor concoction we made, with Absolut
Citron and Hi-C, I think. Funky stuff...
Hi
Mom! She's gonna freak for me putting this one up, but it's the only pic I
had. I think I might have another pic from that week around somewhere, but
for now this will have to do...
Mom
made me take a picture of these stupid pelicans. They would fly in a three
man wing formation and go back and forth over the hotel all day. You can
barely see them. I told her you wouldn't be able to...
Every
day after we got tuned up, we'd go down to the water and try to drown
ourselves. Here's Lis about to get punded by a wave. Not a very good
acting job if you ask me...
Now
THAT'S a good acting job! I should get an Oscar for that expression...
Here's
some couple playing on the beach...
We
took down our beautiful Kawasaki 1100 STX JetSki waverunner with us. We
tried to use it almost every day and pretty much did. Here's Melissa
posing with it...
My
turn to pose...
Here
we go, on our way to find the elusive inlet to get out into the ocean. We
had to ride the waverunner at about 5mph cause of the no wake zones. It
took about 20 minutes to get to the inlet every day. There are Manatees in
the water supposedly everywhere, hence the wake zones. All we saw were
hundreds of dolphins and pelicans...
Yes,
dolphins were everywhere. In front of us, behind us and to either side;
always within feet of the waverunner. They ain't scared of nothing.
Along
the way, we stopped on this cute little deserted island and took a few
pics...this is when we got some Sunblock lotion on the lens. From here on
in most of the pics were blurry...
Yep,
blurry and Melissa likes to take pictures from really far away. I guess
it's more challenging for her this way; Lord knows it is for me when it
comes time to edit the pictures...
Along
the way we took this picture of these two pelicans chillin' under the
bridge...
Look,
more pelicans!
And
more pelicans...
and
more pelicans...
and
more friggn' pelicans. Someone please hand me a shotgun. They got more
pelicans than West New York has Mexicans...
We
finally made it to the inlet, where we passed the Florida Coast Guard coming
back from yet another "Elian Patrol" as they like to call it...
One
of the cool things about the inlet is that there is a beach there where you
can beach your waverunner to rest and picnic (amongst other things...)
More
blurry posing...
Now,
another good thing about the inlet...
...are
the waves when the tide is coming in! It was really cool; you can ride the waves
like a surfer does. It was pretty tricky going back out though, through the
waves as they were coming in...
Yes,
I let Melissa drive once in a while...
Me
again...
More
dolphins...
A
pic of a docked Casino Boat we passed...
And
for some retarded reason Lis felt she HAD to take a picture of this stupid bird.
"What bird?" do you ask? That's what I asked...
THIS
bird! Only after an extreme closeup did I find it...
